Second place in the WBFSH ranking of the world’s best dressage sires
Three-time World Championship gold winner
Tribe of the Freiminka
He has taken the sport into a completely new dimension – and he has long since succeeded in this in breeding: Totilas. His offspring reached the big championship stages in record time and quickly catapulted him to the top places in the WBFSH ranking of the world’s best dressage sires – currently second place. He was also awarded as an elite stallion in Oldenburg. As at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo/JPN, three Totilas offspring were again at the start in Paris/FRA in 2024: in addition to our Total Hope/Isabel Freese/NOR, who finished tenth in the individual ranking, Glock’s Total U.S./Hans Peter Minderhoud/NED, who finished fourth in the team, and Gotilas du Feuillard/Corentin Pottier/FRA, who finished sixth in the team. At the 2022 World Championships in Herning/DEN, a record-breaking five Totilas offspring competed, such as team fifth Torveslettens Titanium RS2/Marieke van der Putten/NED. At the 2023 European Championships in Riesenbeck, there were four: in addition to our tenth freestyle finisher Total Hope, Quiero SF/Christian Schumach/AUT, Turbo/Sorell Klatzko/IRL and Thiago GS/Matthias Alexander Rath, the latter of whom won team silver.
Said Olympic tenth, European Championship eighth and tenth, World Cup third, Burg Cup and Louisdor Prize winner, Total Hope OLD, leads the lot of the soon to be 50 licensed sons of Totilas. And then there are Birkhof’s Topas FBW/Victoria Max-Theurer, Glock’s Total U.S./Edward Gal/NED, Tabledance/Evelyn Eger, Titolas/Susanne Krohn, Genuine/Marijke van Giesen/NED and Straight Horse Don Tamino/Philine Brunner/SUI, who are also licensed and internationally successful in the Grand Prix, as well as the two-time Vice World Champion for young dressage horses and fifth in the European Championships team Governor-STR/Adelinde Cornelissen/NED, the Burg Cup fourth Top Gear OLD/Isabel Freese/NOR, the two-time bronze medallist at the German Championships Total McLaren, the second most expensive Hanoverian premium stallion Take That at 370,000 Euros and our second reserve winner of his short test, Total PS.
Total Recall, a record auction foal with a hammer price of 200,000 Euros, won international competitions with Matthias Alexander Rath and recorded Grand Prix successes under Jemma Heran/AUS. Also in Vechta, Total Ideal cost 105,000 euros and Tout le Monde 90,000 euros. In 2019, Totilas also produced the winning filly at the German Foal Championships in Lienen. True Love OLD was the second Oldenburg Reserve Champion Mare, Vice German Champion and is successful up to St. Georges with Matthias Alexander Rath.
Three world records, three World Championship gold medals – Totilas can only be described with superlatives.
With his performances in the arena, he has moved people far beyond dressage and ensured a previously unknown popularity. Under Edward Gal, Totilas won team gold, silver in the special and freestyle gold at the 2009 European Championships in Windsor/GBR. He set two world records in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Freestyle. In December, Totilas topped his own record in the freestyle in London/GBR. In 2010, he won the World Cup final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch/NED. At the CHIO Aachen he set another world record in the Special: the judges awarded the dream score of 10 an incredible 28 times. At the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington/USA, Totilas won gold in the Netherlands team and in the two individual events. Totilas then moved under the saddle of Matthias Alexander Rath and became the best horse in the German European Silver Championship team in Rotterdam/NED in 2011. In 2012 there was German Championship silver in the Special and in the Freestyle. In 2015, team bronze followed at the European Championships in Aachen.
His sire Gribaldi was himself a Trakehner licensing winner, Grand Prix winner under Edward Gal/NED and Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2008. In the Netherlands, he was awarded the top predicate preferent and led the WBFSH ranking of the world’s best dressage sires in 2014. His offspring include World Cup winner Painted Black I/Anky van Grunsven/NED and Grand Prix winners Sisther de Jeu/Edward Gal/NED, Peter Pan/Beatriz Ferrer-Salat/ESP, Pasternak/Coby van Baalen/NED and Girasol/Nadine Capellmann. Of the more than 30 licensed sons of Gribaldi recorded in Germany, the Trakehner licensing winner Imhotep and the reserve champion All Inclusive stand out.
His dam Lominka also produced Ramon (by Partout/T.), who was placed up to Inter I.
The granddam Elsa also produced the two advanced (S) level dressage horses Talan and Vladimir (both by Gribaldi).
On the dam’s side, Glendale, Actor, Pericles xx and Fern follow.
The famous Dutch line of Freiminka produced numerous internationally highly successful sport horses and the licensed stallions Lochnagar, Iowa/Emma Wester/SWE, Cordess/Christian Kukuk, Olympic W, Try Time, Topas, Jodokus and Vindicator, among others.
