Sire of De Janeiro is De Niro. The legendary sire De Niro, dominated the foal markets in Medingen in 2000. His sons are very popular at the approvals, demonstrated by Der Lord who stands at Celle and Divino de L who covers in Baden-Wurttemberg as well as Depardieu and Degas and a string of others. De Niro’s daughter Die Weingard became 1-b diamond ring mare at the 2000 Oldenberg Elite Mare Show in Rastede. He also competed successfully at elementary and intermediate levels and qualified for the national dressage championships of 1998 and 1999. At the age of 7 yo he already won Grand Prix St Georges, Intermediaire 1 & 11 as well as Grand Prix. In 2000 he was declared the best new generation Grand Prix dressage horse and he went on to become one of the very best dressage sires of Europe. Grandsire Donnerhall is a stallion that has had a lasting influence on contemporary German dressage sport and the breeding of dressage horses and is one of the greats.
Weltmeyer, the sire of Wendy, is also one of the greats of modern sporthorse breeding with a tremendous breeding value index for dressage improvement. Please see our section on Weltmeyer for further information. At his performance test De Janeiro scored 9’s for character, temperament, and willingness to perform, and 8 for conformation. For trot 8, canter 9, walk 9, and rideability 9. For freejumping he gained 6’s and 8 for rideability over jumps, for jumping manner under saddle 7.33. In 2005 and 2006 he performed stallion duty at the State Stud in Celle and in 2006 he presented a convincing crop of foals. Several of his offspring were sold via the auctions in Verden.
