Sire Rubinstein was a Grand Prix level dressage stallion. He had the same bloodlines as the Olympic Champions Rembrandt, Ahlerich and Amon. He had already sired 70 licensed sons, such as Ronaldo himself, Royal Diamond, Rohdiamant, Ruiz Soler and Rubioso N. His grandsire Ramino was champion at the 1983 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test and also five times jumping Champion of Champions of Italy. Ramino became father of several stallion mothers, including Carella and Granno, Sergeant Pepper and Sandro Hit. Three more impressive stallions are worth mentioning. Weltmeister,(the grandsire of Bonfire), Cardinal xx and More Magic xx (Voltaire’s grandfather) are also there. On the dam side is the state premium elite mare Carella who represents one of the best mare lines in Oldenburg. Rubinstar N (full brother to Carella) was in 1994 the clear champion performance horse in Munster-Reim. Three full sisters Cherubina, Rendezvous and Charisma were are given the title ‘state Premie’. Cherubina became mother of the approved stallion Levandos 1. Rendezvous became Bundeschampion of the 4 yo in 1994.
Ronaldo was in 1997 Champion at the stallion selection in Oldenburg and in 1999 he did a fantastic performance in Neustadt/Dosse, where he four times got scores of 10, for character and for canter, 9 for walk, trot and jumping abilities under saddle. This gave him the definite license and registration in Leistungsklasse 1. On the basis of his own conformation, performance and offspring (which were considered by the Oldenburger judges as ‘very good’), Ronaldo was Reserve Champion of Oldenburg in 1999. In 2000 and 2001 Ronaldo came 3 times first in stallion dressage competitions. In 2003 he made his debut in the Prix St George & Intermediare 1.
His foals are very fine types, long lined, of nice size and they have big, light, easy movements, as does Ronaldo himself. They are very expressive, well developed and of good riding types. Their hind quarters are all very strong and elastic and well muscled. Their necks are of good length, and their shoulders are of good length and nicely sloping. Some of the foals are already sold to Germany and America. Foals sold for up to 30,000 guilders and have gone to some of the best dressage stables. In 2003 a colt foal by Ronaldo broke the price record of Holland.
