Sire of Koriander Contender, has in a relevantly short time built up a very good name amongst Holstein breeders. He won the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test and he became the I-b main premium vice-champion in Oldenburg in combination with his excellent first batch of foals. He was initially stationed at the Oldenburg breeding region for three years and meanwhile became one of the most sought after stallions of the Oldenburg association. He left the stallion performance test winner Contango (currently in USA) in Oldenburg, as well as Continue, Caius, Clinton and Calvador, all of whom have already made a good impression in competition sport, and in addition to these, he also presented numerous highly priced Vechta elite auction horses. The Contender daughter Riconda won the Elite Mare Show in Rastede in 1993. Contender continued this success story unabatedly in Holstein, where he distinguished himself with esteemed elites for both breeding and sport in both disciplines. The FN breeding value rating has listed him as one of the most versatile top hereditary transmitters of Germany for years now. He has a breeding index of 153 for jumping with the Hanoverian Year Book. His dam Ira 11 is by Molike 1. She is a very well developed riding type mare with very good conformation. Her legs, especially the hind legs are very correct and she was 23 years old when she was examined in 1995! He trot was excellent.

In 1995 at Ermelo at the performance test for Koriander it was stated that he was an honest horse with a lot playfullness. He was very keen on work and his trainability very high. The walk and the trot was good. In dressage he is above average and as a jumping horse he has extremely high ability. His stable behaviour is good. His scores were walk 6.5, trot 7.5, canter 8, rideability 7, jumping 8, and free jumping 8. He placed 4th out of 27 overall.

Eighteen foals were presented out of his first crop in 1996. The foals were a uniform collection of riding type and a well placed neck, well muscled. The shoulder and back are well formed and well muscled and the rump is also well formed. The hind legs are particularly well formed and strong, the walk is of good length, and the hind legs have a good angle. All foals show a stronger hind quarter than fore quarter. In 2002/03 a son by Koriander x Cocktail was selected for the 2nd phase of selections in den Bosch.
