Don Juan’s sire Don Carlos belongs to the pioneers of producers of show jumpers. His breeding record shows stallions such as Dynamo, Donkosak, Don Juan, Don Pedro and Drosselkonig 1 & 11. A total of 31 approved stallions and 43 state premium mares are recorded for Don Carlos. Don Juan’s dam, state premium mare Erlenrebe, also sired the international jumper Dixato. Don Juan started his breeding career in 1979. Among his licensed sons are the State stallions Don Eduardo, Daiquirri, Don Ramiro, Dirano and Donizetti. Among his state premium mares are a couple of good show horses of international class, namely Genesis, and Ramiro. From his Verden auction horses, comes Donatella FRH who in 1992 won the Hanoverian jumping championships at the Dobrock horse show. He is an excellent producer of outstanding jumping horses, and his offspring stand out for courage and ability. One very successful offspring is Dulf who was part of the Swiss team who won the silver medal at the European Show Jumping Championships in Hickstead 1999. He is well known for improving the gaits in jumping horses. Not all of Don Juan’s offspring is restricted to show jumping. In 1992 his son Don Johnson won the German dressage horse championships for 6 year olds with Heiner Schiergen.
In 1997 Don Juan became the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year. Twelve percent of his offspring are performing at Grand Prix level. He is a tremendous improver of jumping ability in his progeny. Though he can be titled as a superb jumping sire, he sires excellent gaits. He has 9 licensed sons, 42 state premium mares and 157 auction horses. Winning sum of progeny is Euro 948,879.00.
