Davignon, Del Piero’s sire, can be said to be the most successful dressage horse of the world and can look back on an exemplary career. He managed to combine success in breeding and in sport alike. He was in 1986 DLG champion in Hanover. After many wins in Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and freestyle at international level he became German champion in Mannheim with Karin Rehbein in 1994, and team world champion and individual bronze medal winner in The Hague. The in 1997 he won team gold and individual gold in the European Dressage championship in Verden. In 1998, he was a member of the German world championship gold medal of Rome, where he gained 4th place in the individual results. He won the World Cup European League, as well as being the Oldenburg dressage stallion of the year in 1997 and 1998. His breeding career is outstanding. According to the FN breeding value rating, Davignon 1 is the absolute top dressage transmitter in Germany.
Del Piero’s Dam: Mated with Davignon 1, his dam, state premium Mascha gave birth to the meanwhile approved stallion Di Versace and is a full-sister of state premium mare Marschfee, who has been a multiple show winner and received the I-a prize, each time respectively, at the 1991 Louis-Wiegels Show, the Ratje Niebuhr Show and the National Mare Show. The damsire Matcho AA was winner of the 1992 stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. He performed covering duty at the Celle state stud of Oberndorf from 1983 to 1995 in the domain of Hanoverian selective breeding and managed to found his own stallion bloodline from there. His progeny are popular with riders because of the ease at which they can be ridden and due to their good character. They are successful in all fields of riding. The powerful performer Garibaldi 11 in the third generation was also a hereditary transmitter of extraordinary versatility. The damline moreover brought forth the sire Lehnsherr (Celle) as well as the international dressage horse Dutch. The combination of Donnerhall, the stallion of the century, with Matcho AA, the Anglo Arabian together with the strong breeding of Garibaldi 11 makes his pedigree extremely interesting. His lovely black colour combined with a fantastic character make him a very desirable stallion. His type is highly modern and he has a high percentage of black foals.
Performance record: Del Piero absolved the stallion performance test in Munster-Handorf where he achieved third place in performance class 1. Following wins in riding horse competitions, Del Piero was introduced to dressage competitions in 1998 in which he easily gained qualification for the federal championship, where he won the title of national five year old dressage champion in a ‘Start-Goal-Win’ in 1998 in Warendorf. He won both the preliminaries as well as the finals in which he excelled with the dream points of 9.0 and 9.5 respectively. In 1999 he won the Reserve Championship in Arnhem. At the end of the season he won third place in the Bundes Championship in 1999. These results place him as one of the top dressage stallions. In the season 2000 Del Piero was the first 7 year old to score many places in dressage tests in class S. His daughter Donata was the most expensive filly at the Hanoverian foal auction 2000 at DM40,000.00. In 2002 he competed in St Georg and Intermediate 1.
